The Reason behind the change in Ms. Marvel's Powers
During an interview, the co-creator of Ms. Marvel explained that the change happened to not show any links with Mister Fantastic. In MCU, Kamala gained her powers with crystalline purple energy. It is quite different from her comic book stretching powers.
In one of the scenes, we do get to see Kamala using a giant hand just like in the Marvel comics. But in MCU, her powers don't come from her Inhuman genes. Basically, Ms. Marvel's MCU powers are energy based which is a total change.
Ms. Marvel's Costume
In the series, Kamala uses the cosplay costume of Ms. Marvel for the most part throughout the series. But during episode three, Bruno gives a superhero mask to Kamala.
Likewise, Kareem gives Kamala his red scarf to use if she gets in trouble. However, we won't be able to see Kamala in her superhero outfit until the last episode.
Kamala creates an outfit for herself with the gift from her mother. Not only that, she pairs the mask that Bruno gave her. And the scarf from Kareem to create a Ms. Marvel Costume.
